"You made signing up to for the class easy. I appreciated having what patterns you recommended based on experience. Great instructions on location, time of arrival, reminders, etc. The workshop was great. I loved the variety of people that joined. For not having any experience you guided us all very well. Thank you 😊"
IN PERSON OR VIRTUAL
I offer regular workshops in person and online that are open to the public. Custom and private workshops can also be online or in person.
For All
Ages
While many of my workshops are designed for adults, I also love working with kids and tailoring the material and activities for different age ranges.
Student to Master
My workshops are designed to grow with you. Workshops build on each other and give you the opportunity to gain new skills and deepen existing knowledge.
Art With
Purpose
As an artist of many years, I don't ascribe to the philosophy of "art for art's sake" but strive to infuse meaning and purpose into every creative experience.

"The class was wonderful. I enjoyed learning the history of Tatreez along with the technique. I look forward to attending more classes in the future. Thank you so much."
Workshop Offerings
Essential Tatreez: The Fallahi Stitch
Essential Tatreez workshops are available at beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels and focus on teaching the most iconic embroidery stitch from Palestine: the Fallahi or cross stitch.
In the beginner workshop, we learn how to cross-stitch according to Palestinian traditions and spend a significant amount of time covering the history of tatreez and its role in the Palestinian struggle.
Intermediate workshops are designed for students already familiar with the basic Fallahi stitch. Students can explore more complex and larger motifs or experiment with combining motifs within a single piece. Students also deepen their knowledge by learning more about the construction and details of Palestinian thobes (dresses).
Advanced workshops give students who have honed their skills with the Fallahi stitch the opportunity to transform their pieces into functional items like bookmarks and pillow covers and learn how to plan larger projects combining multiple motifs. At this stage, students also learn more about the different types of motifs and regional styles.
Tatreez for Kids
Tatreez for kids workshops can be tailored to different age groups and offer kids an opportunity to connect with the traditon of tatreez in an accessible and age appropriate way.
Depending on the age range of the group, activities can include but are not limited to: story time, tatreez stamps, and tatreez with yarn and craft needles.
Tatreez Exploration: Decorative & Functional Stitches
In Tatreez Exploration workshops, participants learn a selection of decorative and/or functional stitches beyond the Fallahi or cross stitch and the regions they originate from.
Examples of stitches that can be taught: tahriri (couching) stitch, chain stitch, fishbone stitch, and various joining and finishing stitches.
Prerequisite: prior knowledge of the Fallahi stitch or a Tatreez 101 workshop.

Prerequisite: prior knowledge of the Fallahi stitch or a Tatreez 101 workshop.

Motif Design workshops guide participants through designing at least 5 original motifs to tell a story about their own lives using tatreez.
Participants will also learn more about the history of tatreez and common motifs.

Natural Dyeing
